About
Hi there – I’m Amanda.
I’m a Digital News Editor for chicagotribune.com, which means I’m one of ten on the Web staff team that updates the site nearly 24/7. In addition to working on chicagotribune.com, I also focus on Chicago Tribune and chicagotribune.com’s social media strategy and implementation. I’ve been working in social media ever since I began as an intern at the Tribune in March 2008, back when it was a trial project. I also work closely with Tribune Company’s search engine optimization, or SEO, team.
More recently, I became a member the Society of Professional Journalist’s Digital Media Committee. It’s our goal to prepare news professionals for the 21st century newsroom by teaching them about technology. You can also find me blogging on the DMC’s NetWorked.
I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in May 2008.
Since I work in social media, it means one thing: content overload. Every day I read dozens of stories, posts and comments. I absolutely love it, but sometimes I run out of time keeping up with the media, social site submissions and the latest social media news!
So, to keep everything in order, I’m starting a personal blog. Think of it as one big list of bookmarks, stories I love, and stories I haven’t yet read. An online file cabinet, if you will. Please feel free to comment and add links and suggestions! After all, social media is all about being social.
Thanks for stopping by,
