It’s a fantastic site – it explains everything including what Twitter is, how to set up an account, how to get followers, the site’s history, a Twitter glossary, links to Twitter in the news, cool Twitter-related sites, most popular users and much more.
But if that’s a bit much for you – check out these other lists of Twitter tools:
A year or two ago – on April Fool’s Day – the Gmail Blog announced a new feature that would allow you to change the time on your sent e-mails. If you were late e-mailing something to your boss, you could change the time on the message so it would appear it popped into the recipient’s mailbox on time.
I couldn’t believe what I was reading then; and I can’t quite believe it now. Or, at least I’m skeptical.
The new Gmail option gives you 5 extra seconds to “undo send” an e-mail for whatever reason. I’m sure Gmail users could find a million reasons to use it, and I’m sure it could come in handy. I’m not saying that the new, optional feature is a bad thing, but I know I’d rather rely on my good sense than those 5 seconds.
But since we all have our moments, maybe a few seconds to review our actions may come in handy.
Why your number of Diggs is important – A new algo at Digg shows the site now limits the number of stories users can Digg a day to about 90.
Twitters suspended – The full story – Suspended and you don’t know why? You may be experiencing a similar problem as these folks. They were caught up in a spam cloud and were consequently banned – by accident.
How not to get Twitter followers: Our top tips – 1) Don’t ask for followers. 2) Don’t ask for followers. 3) Don’t Tweet too much. A funny look into one Tweeter’s experiment to gain a larger following.
Twitter kills Google in real-time search – Now I’ve been hearing about this the past few days. I don’t know if one kills the other, rather, I think they both have their strong points.
Twittersheep tells you more about your followers – Who’s following you? Check out Twittersheep to see a word cloud from your followers’ bios. My followers’ most used terms? Media, social and tech.
COOL TOOL:Tinypaste – Have a lot to say – more than 140 characters? Just Tinypaste. Just add in your text, and it’ll create a URL linking to your text. Very helpful.
The 11 Rules of Social Media Etiquette – A great post for anyone starting in social media. Some of this may seem obvious to those who have been around for a while, but if duly noted, it can prevent a social media faux pas.
COOL TOOL:Twopular – Twopular is another tool for keeping track of Twitter trends. I like Twopular because it shows you if a term is increasing/decreasing/holding consistent in popularity; it also tracks the popularity of trends since the site began (Dec. 5, 2008).
I Can Digg It – After you spend enough time in the social media sphere, you become familiar with social media “celebrities” – or power users. MrBabyMan is one of these and is famous for his success on Digg. If you’re looking to learn more about Digg users, or social media in general, this story is a must. It provides a good history of Andrew Sorcini (MrBabyMan) and explains why social media can be so complicated.
How to be a better Tweeter – New to Twitter? Still don’t get it? Here’s a great post that explains how to offer more to the community than your daily breakfast Tweets.
Guideline for Cats – This is right on the money. I can’t say much more without ruining it, but here’s a quick snippet: “Always accompany guests to the bathroom. It is not necessary to do anything . . . just sit and stare.”

Welcome!
Hi, thanks for stopping by.
The past year has brought about many changes -- one, I'm no longer at the Chicago Tribune. After a great two years there, I've moved on to Creative Director at Consumer Media Network. I'm also no longer "acmaurer" technically, since I married my best friend in June '11. I'm now Amanda Woodhead, but between you, me and the Internet, I'll always be acmaurer. So thanks again for stopping by, and here's to some great conversations.
Want to find me on the Web? I'm acmaurer on most social news and networking sites.
PS, I doubt I have to say this, but this is my personal blog and doesn't reflect the opinion of my employer.
